Jason wants to make racing stock cars
his career. Jason began racing go-karts at a young age
in a baseball uniform and a go-kart purchased from
Roses. Throughout his early years, Jason moved up very
quickly in the World Karting Association (WKA) while
learning the basics of racing. Some of his career stats
in the WKA include 2 national championships, 2 state
championships, 10 national wins, 11 state wins, 23 poles
and 41 top 5’s in only 3 and half years. He has raced at
such venues as Daytona, Charlotte, Michigan, South
Boston, Martinsville, and many others across the
country.
After winning 2 national
championships, the pinnacle of any racing division,
Jason decided that he needed to go to the next level. In
2000, he moved to stock car racing at the New River
Valley Speedway in Radford, VA. Jason began by competing
in the Limited Division where he won his first race. He
also competed in a limited number of late model stock
car races. Jason gained valuable seat time by competing
in both divisions in his very first year.
In 2001, Jason competed only in the
Late Model Stock Division and had a very successful
season while racing in a limited amount of races. His
top finish of 5th occurred at the WDBJ 7 live TV race
where he gained valuable exposure from the broadcast.
In the 2002 season, Jason finished 7th
in series points and won Dodge’s Bonus Award for being
the highest finishing Dodge in the Region.
The 2003 season was a new venture for Jason Mitcham
Racing. The team competed in the UARA-STARS late model
touring series as well as competing at the New River
Valley Speedway when the schedule allowed. Jason ended
the season with a solid 4th place points position and
won the UARA Rookie of the Year award. The year also
brought Jason his first career late model stock car win.
Jason is working to accomplish success at the local
level while maintaining his dream of one day racing in
NASCAR Nextel Cup.
